Zlatko Šabič

zlatko-sabicProfessor of International Relations at the University of Ljubljana. Besides his teaching and research, he has ample experience with working in governing structures. Among others he was a Vice-Dean of the Faculty for student affairs (2003-2005), and for International Co-operation (2015-2017). He was a member of the Faculty's Governing Board (2009-2011). From 2008-2011 he was the Head of the Department of Political Science. Former President of the Central and East European International Studies Association (CEEISA; 2006-2010). He was a member of the Steering Committee of the Standing Group of International Relations within the ECPR (2010-2013). He is one of the founders of the European International Studies Association, the largest network of International Relations professionals in Europe (http://www.eisa-net.org/). He has served in the Governing Board of the Organisation from 2013-2015. He also a member of the Standing Working Group for Social Sciences in the Scientific Council of the Slovenian Research Agency (2010-2015).

He has participated or co-ordinated several international projects. The most recent one completed in 2014, was devoted to the networking of academics from the Western Balkans, and was supported by the European Commission (Life Long Learning Programme - AcadEU). His interest in East Asia and the EARL respectively (he was travelling and visiting East Asia between 2016 and 2017) stems from his experience with the AcadEU (his ongoing research project, due to be completed in 2018, also deals with networking of Slovenian scientists working abroad).
