The Center for the Study of Culture and Religion (CSCR) is an institute for fundamental cultural research, one of the oldest at the Faculty of Social Sciences. The center focuses on the analysis of contemporary cultural and religious phenomena in the local and global environment. Its principal research areas are: popular culture (film, music, fashion, the media), the cultures of everyday life, subcultures and street cultures, literature, changes in mentality and religion in post-socialist environments, (de)secularization processes in contemporary societies, new religious movements, the Balkan studies, collective memory and various forms of nostalgia. The CSCR researchers closely cooperate with renowned domestic and foreign, European and American education and research institutions.
