Qualitative Data Analysis Workshop
The Qualitative Data Analysis Workshop was held from 2 to 5 March 2020 at the Center for Social Informatics at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana. The instructor was Lea Sgier, PhD., from the University of Geneva (Political Science Department).
Dr Lea Sgier is an expert in qualitative methodology, teaching qualitative methods and anaysis at the University of Geneva (Political Science Department), University of Applied Arts and Sciences (Social Work) in Geneva, qualitative interviewing at the ECPR Winter School in Methods and Techniques in Germany (since 2015), qualitative methodology at the Hong Kong Postgraduate Summer School in Social Science Research Methods (2014, 2017, 2018), and at the Essex Summer School in Social Science Data Analysis in the UK (since 2007). In addition, she was an assistant professor in Political Science at Central European University (CEU) in Budapest, Hungary, where she taught qualitative methods, discourse analysis, and gender and politics at postgraduate level (2010-2017).
The workshop aimed to provide the participants with a solid understanding of the basics of qualitative data analysis, so as to enable them to carry out their own analyses more efficiently and confidently. The course's main focus was on thematic analysis as the most widely used method of qualitative analysis.
