Invitation to a Breakfast with Dr. Boštjan Udovič and Dr. Žan Lep About Stereotypes Among Slovenians Regarding Other Nations (15 July at 9:30 a.m. at UL FDV)

We are inviting you to a breakfast with prof. dr. Boštjan Udovič (CDELS, UL FDV) and assist. prof. dr. Žan Lep (UL FF), titled “What Do Slovenians Think About Americans, Russians, the Chinese, Croats, Serbs, Roma… and Others?” The event will take place on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, at 9:30 a.m. in Lecture Hall 18 on the first floor of the Faculty of Social Sciences. The discussion will be held in Slovenian (without interpretation).

Sabina Lange on Dilemmas of EU Enlargement at the TEPSA Irish Pre-Presidency Conference

Assoc. prof. dr. Sabina Lange participated in the TEPSA Irish Pre-Presidency Conference in Dublin on 11 and 12 June 2026. She took part in the event both in her capacity as CDELS researcher and director of Evropa misli/Think Europe. She was a panelist in a discussion that followed a conversation with Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos led by former President of the European Parliament Pat Cox. Building on the Commissioner’s remarks, dr. Lange highlighted developments and perspectives regarding three dilemmas of EU enlargement.

GREENTECH Results Presented at the “From a Validated Concept to a Prototype and Beyond” Event

Prof. dr. Andreja Jaklič and assist. dr. Iris Koleša from CDELS attended the event “From a Validated Concept to a Prototype and Beyond” on 10 June 2026. At the event, the "GREENTECH: Developing Factories and Products of the Future for the Green Transition" program leader prof. dr. Janko Slavič from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana presented the results of the said program.

Andreja Jaklič and Iris Koleša Discussed Sustainable Innovation and FDI at the ICMO 2026 Conference

Prof. dr. Andreja Jaklič and assist. dr. Iris Koleša from CDELS (UL FDV) attended the ICMO 2026 conference in Pržno, Montenegro, where they presented their most recent work on sustainable innovation and debated sustainability with more than 300 experts from over 45 countries.​ The theme of the conference was “Sustainability by Design: Rethinking Strategy, People & Digital Futures”.

Iris Koleša Gave a Speech at an International Consultation on Research Careers

On 5 May 2026, assist. dr. Iris Koleša from CDELS addressed European policymakers at a conference organised by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of the Republic of Slovenia and the European Commission, titled “Shaping the Future of Research Careers: From Policy to Implementation”. In her talk, she outlined several challenges faced by researchers in Slovenia in their career development and work. She also provided concrete recommendations for policymakers and research organisations on how to address them.

About the centre

The research centre specializes in interdisciplinary research in the fields of diplomatic studies, sustainable development, international business and law. Its members collaborate with other established researchers in both national and international projects. They are also intensively involved in national and international research as well as professional and advisory networks, where they exchange research findings with other experts in the aforementioned fields and strengthen the visibility of the research centre, the Faculty of Social Sciences, and the University of Ljubljana as research and knowledge institutions. The centre's researchers engage in both basic and applied research. They regularly communicate their research findings to the scientific and professional audiences and other stakeholders. They organize scientific and professional meetings, participate in various consultations prepared by national and international institutions (e.g. different ministries, OECD, World Bank, European Commission, and others), and prepare expert analyses for decision-makers and policymakers. This is how they contribute to the development of Slovenian and international science and professional communities.

International collaboration 

The research centre is involved in numerous international scientific and professional associations, such as EADI, EIBA, RESER, AIB-CEE, ILA, and PRME. Its members play an active role in international networks—in some cases, they are also members of executive committees or chair them. Through these networks, they connect with other scientists and experts from around the world and participate in international research projects.

Acta Diplomatica

Acta Diplomatica is a book series that publishes fundamental work in the field of diplomatic studies. It is a collection that places diplomacy as a practice, activity, and science in the field of diplomatic studies and at the same time analyzes various current diplomatic cases that shape international relations and the international community. In their works, the authors analyze diplomacy from various perspectives: history, theory of diplomacy, protocol and ceremony, contemporary characteristics of diplomatic relations, and other aspects that are becoming increasingly visible in 21st-century diplomacy. The collection also aims to strengthen diplomatic professional terminology in the Slovenian language.
