Mirjam Kotar

Head of the Central Social Sciences Library at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana. Besides her managerial position in the library, she is also active at the faculty, university and national governing structures. At the university level, she was the Chair of the University of Ljubljana Library Council (2011-2014). She was a member of several organizational committees of Slovenian Conference of Special and Academic Libraries with international attendances. From 2007-2012 she was a member of the Slovene National Counsel for Librarianship Activities (the major policy-making board at the Ministry of Culture).

At the Faculty of Social Sciences she successfully implemented faculty repository of theses, dissertations and scientific publications in the field of social sciences. These experiences she has effectively expanded as a Chair of the University of Ljubljana Library Council when she initiated and collaborated in a project group that successfully prepared and implemented a project of the Repository of the University of Ljubljana. She presented these experiences at several international forums. She teaches in information literacy programmes at the Faculty of Social Sciences. She also lectures at Slovene professional association conferences, university workshops, Erasmus Exchange meetings for foreign librarians and also to students of Department of Library and Information Science.

Areas of expertise: innovative library services, institutional repositories, information literacy programmes, consortiums for e-resources, project OSCID (Specialised Information Centre for Social Sciences), Slovene standards for academic libraries.

Languages: Slovenian (native), English, ex-YU commonly spoken language (Serbo-Croatian).
