GREENTECH – Hybrid Technologies for the Factories of the Future to Support the Green Transition

General information

Code: AR TRL 3-6 GREENTECH
Period: 1.1.2024 - 30.6.2026
Project leader at FDV: prof.dr. Andreja Jaklič
External project leader: prof. dr. Janko Slavič, UL FS

Abstract

The GREENTECH research program (hybrid technologies for the factories of the future for the green transition) was successful in the Public Call for co-financing of long-term large-scale collaborative research and innovation programs at TRL levels 3–6 and secured funding under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP).

GREENTECH will focus on the green transition of Slovenian companies at the level of production processes and products. In the search for revolutionary solutions across the entire value chain of the development and production process (from R&D and technological solutions in manufacturing to energy-efficient devices based on EU materials), outstanding scientific and industrial partners have joined forces.

The consortium thus consists of the companies Gorenje, d.o.o., Fotona, d.o.o., Domel, d.o.o., LPKF, d.o.o., Yaskawa Slovenija d.o.o., Danfoss Trata, d.o.o., Kronoterm, d.o.o., and Medius, d.o.o., as well as the research organizations Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ljubljana (the project leader at the FSS UL is CMO), the Faculty of Management at the University of Primorska, and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana, which is also the lead partner of the project.

The program is scheduled to run from January 1, 2024, to June 30, 2026.

The project partners estimate that, over a ten-year period of full implementation of the solutions in the European Union market, the research program will contribute to a reduction in CO2 emissions of more than 17 million tons through savings in the production process and greener products, a reduction in energy consumption of nearly nine billion kWh, and a reduction in material consumption of approximately 800,000 tons. The developed solutions will also be globally transferable.

The program is co-financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU. The investment is part of the NOO measures.
