Master's study program International Relations is available to persons who have completed:

a) a study program on (at least) first level, evaluated with at least 180 credits, from the professional fields: International Relations or an equivalent study program obtained according to the previous regulations in the Republic of Slovenia or abroad;

b) a study program on (at least) first level, evaluated with at least 180 credits, from other professional fields or an equivalent study program obtained according to the previous regulations in the Republic of Slovenia or abroad, if, prior to enrolment, they have completed study obligations essential for the continuation of studies. These commitments are determined by the Vice Dean and range from 10 to maximum 60 credits.

Selection in case of limited enrolment:

In the selection process, the following is considered:

• success in undergraduate studies (average grade) - 50% of weight,

• assessment obtained at the oral examination in the field covered by the study program - 50% of the weight.

Explanation regarding the elective exam in 2021/22:
The elective exam (a total of 50% of the final grade) takes place in two parts:
1) written part: the candidate writes an essay in English in the amount of up to 1000 words (= 20% of the grade) on a topic determined each year by the programme coordinator;
2) oral part: the candidate answers two substantive questions in the field of international relations, one in English (15%) and the other in his second foreign professional language (10%). He must also be able to express his interest in studying in one of the world's non-English languages (5%).

On 13 July 2022 at 8.00 candidates will receive a title for a 1000-word academic essay to be written in English and handed in by 14 July 2022 at 8.00. The oral part of the exam will be conducted on the 15 and 16 July remotely upon a schedule provided on 14 July.  

Progress requirements:

Progression to the next year of study is possible with at least 52 credits of the current year (no special request needed). In case of exceptional circumstances (specified in the Statute of the UL), students can progress to a higher year on the basis of approval,  provided they have gained at least 44 credits of the current year.
