European Studies

European Studies is a well established interdisciplinary scientific and research field connecting different humanities and social science disciplines. The main connecting element is a common interest in Europe, European culture and civilisation. The study field is a part of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Programme in the Humanities and Social Sciences and will be organised and carried out by the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Ljubljana. It is structured around selected social and cultural aspects of European studies, with an emphasis on political, social, geographical, anthropological, ethnological, sociological, artistic and literary studies.

Enrolment

Foreign citizens who have completed study programme abroad may enrol in doctoral study programme if they complete the offical Slovenian procedure of recognition of foreign undergraduate education.

General competences

The main purpose of the programmes is to provide doctoral students with fundamental knowledge from their research disciplines in different fields of the humanities and social sciences, while developing the competences required for independent research and the application of knowledge at an internationally comparable level.
