Students are allowed to participate in the course provided that they have completed the enrolment procedure.
Objectives and competences
To help students develop the knowledge and professional skills required to effectively communicate in Italian speaking professional settings.
Students will be able to communicate in Italian in a professional setting, and understand as well as independently write professional and academic texts in the selected field of study. They will be able to understand professional contents written or presented in Italian, as well as translate professional texts from Italian into Slovene. They will be able to prepare and deliver efficient presentations related to their field of study and professional context in Italian.
Content (Syllabus outline)
1. Exploration of topics related to the field of social sciences and international relations;
2. Exercises for acquiring and expanding field-specific vocabulary and teminology;
3.Exercises in the use of grammatical and functional structures, typical of academic social science discourse
4. Exercises in coherent summarizing, paraphrasing and creation of written and oral messages;
5. Exercises in translation from Italian into Slovene;
6. Exercises in listening comprehension;
7. Professional discussions in Italian.
Intended learning outcomes:
Students will be able to:
1. understand and critically evaluate professional texts related to the field of social sciences and international relations;
2. use field-specific vocabulary and terminology, and functional structures, typical of the selected field;
3. coherently summarise and paraphrase written and oral messages in a foreign language;
4. understand spoken messages, typical of the selected field;
5. produce efficient written and oral texts in professional setting
Learning and teaching methods:
Seminars, lectures, language practical training, oral presentations with debate, written assignments, e-learning (4 cultural modules).
