Objectives and competences
Objectives:
To help students develop the knowledge and professional skills required to effectively communicate in French speaking professional settings.
Competences:
Students will be able to communicate in French in a professional setting, and understand as well as independently write professional and academic texts in the selected field of study. They will be able to:
- understand professional texts (written and oral)in French;
- translate professional texts from French into Slovene;
- prepare and deliver efficient presentations in French.
Content (Syllabus outline)
1. Exploration of topics related to the field of international relations and European studies;
2. Exercises for acquiring and expanding field-specific vocabulary and terminology;
3. Exercises in coherent summarizing, paraphrasing and creation of written and oral messages;
4. Exercises in translation from French into Slovene and from Slovene into French;
5. Exercises in listening comprehension;
6. Professional discussions in French
Intended learning outcomes:
Students will be able to:
1. understand and critically evaluate professional texts related to the field of international relations and European studies;
2. use field-specific vocabulary and terminology, and functional structures, typical of the selected field;
3. coherently summarise and paraphrase written and oral messages in a foreign language;
4. understand spoken messages, typical of the selected field;
5. produce efficient written and oral texts in professional settings.
Learning and teaching methods:
Lectures, seminars, oral presentation of written paper, written and oral assesment, active participation, e-learning.
