Students are allowed to participate in the course if they have completed the enrolment procedure.
Objectives and competences
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the course are:
(a) to explain the basic of the protocol, ceremonial and etiquette;
(b) to empower students to behave adequately on ceremonial events;
(c) to explain the basic characteristics of the diplomatic correspondence;
(d) to increase the awareness of the importance of the ‘appropriate behaviour’ on diplomatic receptions, ceremonial events etc.
COMPETENCES:
Students will be able to:
(a) understand the main characteristics of protocol, ceremonial and etiquette;
(b) apply the absolved theoretical knowledge in practice (simulations);
(c) prepare some of the basic text in diplomatic and business correspondence;
(d) develop their abilities to prepare holistically for a ceremonial event.
Content (Syllabus outline)
The course covers the following topics:
-introduction to the state and business protocol and etiquette;
-titles, forms of address in different functions;
-basic ceremonial rules;
-basics of diplomatic intercourse, planning table seating, receptions;
-flags distribution, order, basics of ceremonial communication.
Intended learning outcomes:
Students will have the knowledge of:
(a) basic s of protocol, ceremonial and etiquette;
(b) dressing culture;
(c) modern good manners;
(d) basic characteristics of the diplomatic and business correspondence.
Learning and teaching methods:
Lectures,
Simulations,
Role playing,
Individual/group work.
Assessment
Written exam 100 %, different activities (role-play, presentation of different problems) are compulsory and can increase a grade for 1.
