Students are allowed to participate in the course provided that they have completed the enrolment procedure.
Objectives and competences
OBJECTIVES:
Introducing the students to diverse approaches to creative writing.
Equipping the students with tools that allow them to use these approaches their own analytical work in different fields and media.
COMPETENCES:
Developing the ability to write a terminologically accurate and structurally sound text.
Writing texts based on the principles of creativity and media specificity.
Articulating scientific results in different ways. Developing scientific and literary expression simultaneously, according to the prescribed format of the text.
Content (Syllabus outline)
The course introduces students to creative writing and encourages them to question the relationships between scientific, professional and artistic texts.
Over the course of the semester, students are introduced to different theories of fiction and creativity. They learn different styles of argumentation and how to apply them to the writing of scientific and professional texts. They learn how to use creative thinking to write essays and fiction texts in different genres and formats. Particular attention is paid to structuring the plot, developing characters, establishing different perspectives and adapting texts for different media.
The course is both theoretical and practical , as students are required to write one longer and several shorter assignments from a list of options.
Intended learning outcomes:
Awareness of the existence of different approaches to writing different types of scientific, expert and fictional texts.
Capacity to apply these approaches to different media, purposes and requirements, writing one or more texts on selected topics and discussing them in class.

Lectures and seminars.
Assessment
Final grade consists one final long assignment (cca. 8 pages, 40%) and 4 short assignments (15% each) on prescribed topics.
