Prerequisits:

Students are allowed to participate in the course provided that they have completed the enrolment procedure.

Objectives and competences

Students will deepen their knowledge about human resource development, education and employment. Key focus is placed on factors related to development of competences, occupational professionalisation and employability. Relations to other subjects in the programme are considered. The emphasis is placed to the development of analytical thinking and the synthesis of knowledge within this and other courses. COMPETENCES: professional knowledge from the field, analysis and synthesis, team work, communication skills, decision making and accepting responsibility, creativity, goal achievement, organisation of time and work, change management.

Content (Syllabus outline)

Key approaches and challenges of human resource development, strategies of human resource development, development of employees within organisation, competences and attainment of key qualifications, competence models, link between education and work, career development, changes in educational requirements, development of employees in various organisational settings, matching problem, education for employment and allocation of jobs, changes in educational systems as a response to the changing needs of economy and jobs, challenges of vocational education and training, higher education, selected approaches of learning and education, link between employment and employability, occupational professionalisation, specific topics related to human resource development.

Intended learning outcomes:

Acquired knowledge for understanding key concepts and models about the role of education at work, employment and employability; innovative usage of human resource development knowledge for creating solutions in changing environments; development of competency models; utilisation of knowledge for understanding and utilisation of key human resource development approaches; ability to analyse and synthase strategies and models of human resource development.

Learning and teaching methods:

Lectures, seminars, presentations, problem based discussions, case analysis, individual consultations, e-learning approaches.

Assessment

Written exam 60% of grade, seminar work 40%
