Prerequisits:

Students are allowed to participate in the course provided that they have completed the enrolment procedure. Recommended knowledge of the course Basics of Law and Politics of International Law.

Objectives and competences

Objectives: Students will learn to apply international law on various situations in the international community. Competences: To differentiate what is and what is not in accordance with international law and why it is so.

Content (Syllabus outline)

Sources of international law will be applied to developments in the international community. Real life situations will be studied and their compatibility/incompatibility with international law. Since students master practically the totality of relations governed by international law the course will yearly concentrate on topics which will emerge as important for world politics. Case studies will address issues relevant for small states.

Intended learning outcomes:

Estimate, apply, explain, judge.

Learning and teaching methods:

Seminars (seminar work, round tables, workshops of role play, consultations, individual work and continuous assessment of study results).

Assessment

50 % Participation in seminars and defending a certain position 50 % as well as preparation and explication i.e. defence of an individual research project
