  • Doktorirala sem iz komunikologije na FDV (2005) na temo feministične interpretacije javnosti. Pred tem sem magistrirala iz komunikologije (2002) in diplomirala iz novinarstva (1998) na isti fakulteti. V času študija in nekaj let po njem sem delala kot novinarka. Na Open Society Institute v Ljubljani sem bila zaposlena za področje evropskih integracij, pozneje kot programska direktorica East East: Partnership Beyond Borders Program. Na FDV sem bila docentka (2010-2016), izredna profesorica (2017-2022) in sem redna profesorica od 2022. Od leta 2001 sem raziskovalka na Mirovnem inštitutu v Ljubljani, znanstvena svetnica od leta 2016.

    Raziskujem s področij medijske in politične teorije, populizma, javnosti in javne sfere, medijev in manjšin, spolne (ne)enakosti in migracij. Med novejšimi knjigami so Mediji in spol: Strukture in prakse neenakosti (ur. z B. Luthar, FDV, 2019), Populism and the Web: Communicating Practices of Parties and Movements in Europe (ur. z B. Sauer, Routledge, 2017) in Contesting Integration, Engendering Migration: Theory and Practice (ur. s F. Anthias, Palgrave, 2014).

    Raziskovalno in pedagoško sem gostovala na University of Helsinki, Central-European University v Budimpešti, University of Florence, Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität v Frankfurtu, na Loughborough University, University of Nijmegen in University of Vienna. So-organizirala sem več mednarodnih konferenc, med njimi Gender Differentiation in Media Industries (2018), Moč alternativnih medijev: izkušnje iz jugo-vzhodne Evrope (2012) in Migrant Labour: Contested Integration, Prospects for Citizenship (2011). 

    Vodila in sodelovala sem pri več mednarodnih projektih. Vodila sem raziskavo POPMED, Politični in medijski populizem: "begunska kriza" v Sloveniji in Avstriji (ARRS, 2018-2021, http://www.mirovni-institut.si/pop-med/). Trenutno sem vodja programske skupine na Mirovnem inštitutu Enakost in človekove pravice v dobi globalnega vladovanja (ARRS, 2020-2023, https://www.mirovni-institut.si/enakost), vodja raziskovalne skupine v Sloveniji pri mednarodnih raziskavah Norface, POPBACK, Populist Backlash, Democratic Backsliding, and the Crisis of the Rule of Law in the European Union (2021-2023, https://www.popback.org/), Horizont 2020 FIERCE, Feminist Movements Revitalizing Democracy in Europe (2022-2025, https://fierce-project.eu/) in VolkswagenStiftung ECSEuro, Enacting Citizenship and Solidarity in Europe "From Below": Local Initiatives, Intersectional Strategies, and Transnational Networks (2022-2025, https://europefrombelow.net/).
