Call for applications for the RECAS Fellowship 2026/2027

We are sharing the call for applications for the RECAS Fellowship 2026 for all who may be interested.

This year’s fellowship is dedicated to Contested Futures: Democratic, Technological and Ecological Transformations in the Western Balkans. It invites early-career researchers to examine how competing visions of the future are emerging around technological change, democracy, ecological transition and the region’s evolving relationship with Europe.

The programme offers:

• A €1,500 net monthly stipend for 3–6 months;
• Research and mentoring within the regional RECAS network;
• Participation in the CAS Online Seminar series and capacity-building activities;
• One week of collaborative work at Moise Palace on Cres Island;
• Participation in thematic Future Governance Hackathons connecting research with policy and practice.

The call is open to PhD holders and advanced PhD candidates in the humanities, social sciences and arts, with priority given to applicants working on Southeast Europe.
