Emerging Voices conference opportunity for PhD students & scholars

The Youth Research Institute invites young academics and PhD students to submit abstracts for our upcoming conference, Emerging Voices 2025: Perspectives from the Next Generation of Scholars in Youth Research, to be held on May 14, 2025, in Budapest, Hungary. Each submitted paper will have the opportunity published in the Youth and Generations academic journal.

The Youth Research Institute considers it an important mission to provide a space every year for young researchers and PhD students from all over the world to present and share their research topics. In 2024, the conference fostered thought-provoking dialogue, with participants presenting research on themes such as AI adoption, youth political engagement, and mental health challenges. Building on this strong foundation, Emerging Voices 2025 welcomes contributions that address the following themes:

  • The characteristics of today’s youth social relationships – family, friendship, and community dynamics.
  • The dark side of being young in the 21st century – exploring new dependencies, fetishes, and fears.
  • The plans and future visions of young people in an era of uncertainty – examining aspirations and future trajectories amidst global challenges.

This conference provides an invaluable opportunity for young academics and (PhD students, postdoc researchers) to engage with fellow scientists, share their findings, and contribute to the growing field of youth studies. In addition to professional development and networking, presenters will have the chance to publish their work in our academic journal, Youth and Generation Studies based on the decision journal’s editorial board.

Furthermore, the Emerging Voices conference will provide two awards at the conclusion of the conference: an award for the best paper submitted and for the best presentation.

Youth Research Insitute will pay for all travel and accommodations for outstanding applicants!
