Doctoral Conference Highlights New Perspectives in Humanities and Social Sciences

On 30 and 31 January 2025, the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, successfully hosted the second Doctoral Conference on New Perspectives in the Humanities and Social Sciences, which brought together more than 50 speakers from different fields of the humanities and social sciences. The event of the doctoral progeamme Humanities and Social Sciences attracted a large number of young researchers both from Slovenia and abroad, and the doctoral conference proved to be an excellent opportunity to discuss the latest research approaches and challenges in academia.

During the conference, participants had the opportunity to take part in workshops focusing on methodological and practical aspects of doctoral research - from quantitative research to mental health and science communication. Special emphasis was also given to the keynote lectures, where Dr Rok Smrdelj (UL FF) and Dr Sinja Gerdina (UL FDV) shared their experiences on the path to the PhD.

The event once again highlighted the importance of the humanities and social sciences in addressing current (and past) societal challenges, with PhD students being among those who contribute to shaping new perspectives through their innovative research.

More information about the event and abstracts of the papers can be found on the official conference website.
