CEEISA Young Scholars Initiative

We are pleased to announce CEEISA Young Scholars Initiative (CYSI) Volume 2, which will take place at the 2026 CEEISA Conference in Sarajevo (16–19 June 2026), following its successful launch at the 2024 ISA–CEEISA Joint Conference.

CYSI Volume 2 is designed as a two-part initiative, consisting of a one-day pre-conference workshop on academic publishing and a series of dedicated conference panels. The initiative aims to foster collaboration among early-career researchers from the region, encourage engagement with diverse theoretical and methodological perspectives, and facilitate meaningful interaction with established senior scholars serving as mentors. While applicants may apply to either component or to both, CYSI is conceived as an integrated and complementary experience.

The pre-conference workshop offers collaborative, hands-on sessions that provide practical insight into the academic publishing process. Participants present research at various stages of preparation for journal submission or review and receive targeted feedback on crafting cover letters, responding to reviewers, framing scholarly contributions, and presenting research findings effectively. During the conference itself, participants present their papers or sections of their doctoral dissertations in interactive, discussion-based panels. These sessions provide structured feedback from selected mentors and peers, with an emphasis on constructive exchange and scholarly development.

Overall, CYSI Volume 2 aims to create a platform for early-career researchers from the region to develop original ideas, strengthen their academic skills, and expand their professional networks. Going beyond the traditional conference format, CYSI offers a focused and immersive experience in which participants take on multiple roles, collaboratively engage in knowledge production, and benefit from the guidance and support of senior scholars.
