Short content
The purpose of the course is to equip students of communication science with basic skills that are necessary for conducting empirical media research in modern societies, including understanding initial assumptions, logic and the structure of a research process, mastering most frequently used methods and techniques for data collection and analyses as well as understanding research results. These skills form a solid fundament for any subsequent more detailed research specialization. The focus is on empirical research methods of media audiences and content as well as media culture and institutions. The approach is based on critical reflection of media and communication praxis, joined with theoretical and empirical analysis of symbolic and substantial media influence. Contemporary media and communication issues are prioritised.
