Special status – status of a parent (mother/father)

Conditions for obtaining the status of a parent

Students obtain the special status of a parent – mother/father if they have a child who is not yet enrolled in compulsory education and/or if they have a child during the course of their studies.

A student parent who has a child during his/her studies has the right to extend their student status by one year for each child born.

An extract from the civil registry of the birth of the child from the administrative unit (the child’s birth certificate) is considered to be relevant proof.

Students can apply to obtain the status of a parent as first-, second- or third-cycle students via the online system.
