• Iztok Prezelj is a full professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ljubljana, where he teaches and conducts research on topics related to national and international security, terrorism and counterterrorism, threat and risk assessment, crisis management, critical infrastructure, security in the Western Balkans, etc. Since october 2025, he serves as Head of the Defense Research Center at the University of Ljubljana (2025-2029), and from 2021 to 2025 he was a Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, from 2017 to 2021 he served as Vice-Dean for research and Director of the Institute for Social Sciences at the Faculty of Social Sciences, where he coordinated research activities in 20 research centers, and from 2015 to 2017 he served as Head of the Department/Chair of Defense Studies. He has visited the following institutions as a researcher or lecturer: Princeton University, Leiden University, the European Centre for Security Studies in Garmisch, the University of Vienna, the University of Sarajevo, the Institute for Security Studies in Paris (at the EU), etc.
