Marko Lovec is an Associate Professor of International Relations at the University of Ljubljana where he teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses on, among others, Methodology and Theory of International Relations, International Political Economy, Development of International Community and Development of the EU. He is a senior research fellow at the Centre of International Relations, Faculty of Social Sciences. He is the head of the Commission on quality at the Faculty. He holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of Ljubljana. He is an associate researcher at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR). He was an associate researcher at the Central European University, Centre for Policy Studies in Budapest and a visiting fellow at the Institute of International Relations in Prague.
Focus of his research is on the European Union policies, especially the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). He has published a book on the CAP reforms (Palgrave-Springer, 2016) and (co)authored several articles on CAP in, among others, Journal of International Relations and Development, Review fo European Economic Policy, European Review of Agricultural Economics, Journal for Nature Conservation and Journal of European Integration History. He contributed several chapters to books published with Springer, Rowman and Littlefeld and Nomos. He coordinated research projects funded by the EU (Horizon 2020), Slovenian national research agency and Ministry of agriculture.
He co-authored expert study on CAP for the European parliament and evaluation of rural development measures in Slovenia for the Ministry of agriculture. He is the author of expert reports on Slovenia for the Nations in Transit by Freedomhouse since 2016. He authored several studies on Slovenia and the EU for different think tanks such as the ECFR, Institute for European Politics form Berlin, IEMed, GLOBSEC and others.
