  • Marko Lovec is an Associate Professor of International Relations at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Science, where he teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses on, among others, Methodology and Theory of International Relations, International Political Economy, Development of International Community and Development of the EU. He is a senior research fellow at the Centre of International Relations. He was the head of the Commission on quality at the Faculty and is currently a member of the Faculty senate. He holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of Ljubljana. He is an Associate Researcher at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR). He was an associate researcher at the Central European University, Centre for Policy Studies in Budapest and a visiting fellow at the Institute of International Relations in Prague.

    Focus of his research is on the European integration. He has published his research in, among others, Journal of International Relations and Development, Review fo European Economic Policy, European Review of Agricultural Economics, Journal for Nature Conservation and Journal of European Integration History. He authored a monograph pubished with Palgrave Macmillan and contributed several chapters to books published by Springer, Rowman and Littlefeld and Nomos. He coordinated and participated in a number of international and national projects, networks and activities funded by the EU (Horizon 2020, JM/Erasmus+, EfC, COST), Slovenian national research agency and others. He received several scholarships and awards for his work (Think Visegrad Fellowship, Distinguished accomplishments by UL).

    As part of his professional work, he participated in the preparation and review of studies for the European Parliament, evaluation of national policies based on European mechanisms and authored a number of reports on European and foreign policy of Slovenia for different think tanks (ECFR, IEP) and on democracy in Slovenia (e.g. NiT-Freedom House reports for Slovenia 2016-2021).
