This course explores several related topics surrounding the use of visual in marketing communications. It is a bricolage of different theories, approaches and views on visual - communication, psychology, semiotics, design, and marketing. The historical development of modern art, industrial and graphic design will be presented as well. Basic elements and principles of visual design will be introduced, as well as visual metaphors and analogies and other techniques of visual persuasion in marketing communications and propaganda. At the end of the class, students will raise their existing visual literacy level and they will become critical readers and users of visual content in different media.
