Short content
According to Kant art is free play of forms. Such understanding is still relevant, but on the other hand it is possible to question the assumption that art is completely independent of its social contexts. The course consequently analyses the complex relations between contemporary art and society. The main topics revolve around the most important art movements that have emerged since the beginning of the 20th century (cubism, aestheticism, surrealism, functionalism, pop art, postmodernism etc.) and their investigations of the role of technology, social power, utopic visions, freedom, extreme psychological states, nature etc. in the contemporary societies.
