Short content
The concept of local self-government, the local community and local government, elements of the local government, the development of local self-government in the world and in Slovenia, spatial design of local communities, concepts and problematisation of (de)centralization, municipality - basic local self-governing community (structure of local self-government, gradation of local government), the position of village and township communicites, the position of big cities, the functions of local government, the financing of local government, social and economic activities of local communities, the direct and indirect forms of local democracy, local authorities (structure, responsibilities), the municipal administration, the wider local community and regionalization, supervision over the functioning of local self-government, formation and development of local self-government in Slovenia focusing on development of the last two decades, the Slovenian Constitution on local government, legislation on local government (Local Government Act, Law on the establishment of municipalities and determining their areas, etc.), the issue of the establishment of the new municipalities, evaluation of the local self-government reform in Slovenia and some other former socialist countries; comparative analysis on local authorities in the world.
