Short content

The course is focused on several broader topics of human rights and obligations in relation to various political perspectives (e.g. politics-policy-polity); contents of rights and major systems of differentiation of rights in comparative perspective over time, by subjects and by international comparative criteria. In the first part of the course a historical evolution of natural or human rights over time is emphasised, as understood in European thought (Christianity, liberalism and socialism). Second part addresses various subjects of human rights, from general personal, to citizen and political, as well as economic, social, cultural, environmental rights. In the third part of the main emphasis is given to the international comparative research, including methodology and case studies analysis. This course addresses also the issues of ideological and cultural relativism in relation to human rights and exposes their critical components in nation state democracies and international community.
