Short content
The first part of the course deals with the dilemmas of journalism professionalization, particularly journalists' self-regulation, education and self-organisation, and it links them with the questions of ethical universality, journalists' work across borders of their own cultures and traditions, and with the relationship between law and (journalism) ethics. It concerns with the common (international) journalism ideology in the context of national traditions of journalism, with ideas of a universal ethical code in the light of the critical views on journalism professionalization, with ethical relativism and universal values, and with the shift from codified morality to personal responsibility.
