Short content

- Definition of sociology, its object of study - society, delimitation and relationship with other disciplines; sociological imagination. - Overview of basic sociological terms and concepts and their use at explaining and researching of social. - Social integration and differentiation, division and inequality, conflicts, difference (class, ethnicity, gender, status, roles etc.), Integration of European societies. - Culture and society: cultural diversity and social inequality, levels of societal organization (micro/macro). - Social structure (accomodation, “enforcement” and human agency (“freedom/liberty”, individuality): the relationship between the individual and the society. - Social phenomena, processes and change: the globalization process. - Social institutions and subsystems (family, religion, politics, economy, law, education, health system ...). - Indicative outline of basic classical sociological theories and methods by learning their main representatives, strengths and weaknesses. - Contemporary sociological concepts and dillemas: social sedentarism and fluidity, “risk society”, structuration, postmodernity, “public sociology”, technology and communication
