Short content
The course acquaints students with the conceptual starting points of the Sociology of organizations as well as practical problem-solving approach towards specific issues of organizational performance and effectiveness. It includes the following problem areas and substantive aspects: the concept of a formal organization, typology of the organizations, images of organizations, the relationship between technology and organizational structure, organizational goals and strategy, and informal organization, the historical development of large organizations, flexibilization and the flexible company, knowledge-based organization, the virtual organization, the environment and the complexity of the organization. The structure of the course is the following: the concept of a formal organization. Typology of organizations. Images of organizations. The relationship between technology and the structure of the organization. Organizational goals and strategy. The development of large organizations. The flexible company. Knowledge-based organization and virtual organizations.
