Short content

The course addresses different dimensions of contemporary visual culture with special emphasis on photographic practices. Analysis of visual culture is performed on the levels of individual, collective and institutional practices and ranges across topics of personal and family photography, uses of images on social media, visual representations in tourism, documentarism, news reporting and art. These practices are analysed against the concepts of gaze, memory, identity, privacy, monetary value and ethics.
