The military in social sciences. Development of the military sociology and political science of the military. The empirical work (The American Soldier). Civil-military relations – social and functional imperative. The involvement of the military in the politics – politically neutral military. Trends in the military organizations and roles. Open questions of the military, and of the Slovenian Armed Forces (gender perspective, military unions, military families, manning system...)
