Short content

Industrial relations are a social sciences discipline which was formed in the time of the post-war economic growth and the welfare state formation. Accordingly, the discipline’s frame of references is ‘pluralist perspective’ (Fox, 1985). Contrary to the ‘unitary frame of reference’, which simply denies plurality of interests, interpreting their manifestation as a dis-functional i.e. pathological phenomenon, within the pluralist paradigm the different interests of stake-holders are legitimate; their manifestation and mutual harmonisation are understand as a condition for the effective functioning and the survival of organisations and the society in general. Fourthly, the course systematically deals with analytically different levels of industrial relations: micro level (production process), mezzo level (sectors) and national and international level. The structure of the course is as follows: 1 Introduction: conceptual starting points 2 Actors employees employers 3 Conflicts 4 Regulation participation collective bargaining state 5. Industrial relations in Slovenia
