The Humanities and Social Science offer a deeper insight into the complexity of society

In a rapidly changing world, the humanities and social sciences play a crucial role, offering a deeper insight into the complexity of society. This not only enables us to understand it, but also to improve society itself. The second doctoral conference, New Perspectives in the Humanities and Social Sciences, held on 30 and 31 January at the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Arts, sought to establish an interdisciplinary dialogue that addresses those areas of society that have a key impact on and co-shape it, while at the same time pointing to the contemporary problems we face collectively and globally.

The Humanities and Social Sciences PhD event attracted a large number of young researchers from home and abroad, and the PhD conference proved to be an excellent opportunity to discuss the latest research approaches and challenges in academia. During the conference, participants had the opportunity to take part in workshops focusing on methodological and practical aspects of doctoral research - from quantitative research to mental health and science communication. Special emphasis was also given to the keynote lectures, where Dr Rok Smrdelj (UL Faculty of Arts) and Dr Sinja Gerdina (UL FDV) shared their experiences on the path to the PhD.
