Professor Patrick Doreian from the University of Pittsburgh


Pat_resizeBetween 23rd November and 8th December 2015 Centre for Methodology and Informatics at the Faculty of Social Sciences is hosting Professor Patrick Doreian from the University of Pittsburgh. Prof. Doreian is actively engaged in the work of the Centre for Methodology and Informatics and its research, in particular in the project Network of Collaboration. The aim of his working visit is among other drafting of articles for the abovementioned project and preparation of the book on new approaches of blockmodeling, which will be published with co-authors Prof. Ferligoj and Prof. Bateglej.

Patrick Doreian is a Professor Emeritus from the University of Pittsburgh in Sociology and Statistics. His current research focuses on social network research in all of its facets. Of special interest for him are temporal networks, scientific collaboration, partitioning networks, signed networks, network autocorrelation and the US Supreme Court. He was a long time (23 years) editor of The Journal of Mathematical Sociology and he co-edited Social Networks from 2006 through December 2015. His most recent book, co-authored with Vladimir Batagelj, Anuška Ferligoj and Nataša Kejžar, was Understanding Large Temporal Networks and Spatial Networks, Wiley (2014).
