Presentation of EUTOPIA project

On Thursday, 14 November 2024, students Anastasia Stanković (Political Science - Policy Analysis and Public Administration), Mateja Firez (Sociology - Human Resource Management), Milena Gligorova (Political Science Policy Analysis and Public Administration) and Anja Miletić (Sociology - Human Resource Management), under the mentorship of Asst. Kristina Rakinić (Centre for Methodology and Informatics) presented the results of a project exploring the experiences of international students at the University of Ljubljana in the context of higher education and integration policies during the EUTOPIA Diversity and Inclusion Month. The project took place within the framework of the EUTOPIA Alliance student projects Together for an Open and Creative Society - EUTOPIA Integrated Connected Communities.

The students' project focused on researching and understanding the existing policies related to higher education for foreign students coming from the countries of former Yugoslavia. In doing so, they also paid particular attention to the issue of policies relating to student integration. In the second part, students conducted semi-structured interviews with foreign students at the University of Ljubljana. Through the analysis of the interviews, they identified both positive and negative aspects of studying at the University of Ljubljana and of life in Ljubljana. Based on their findings, the students also formulated some concrete recommendations that could further ensure fair, equal treatment of foreign students and promote their integration. The students have compiled their findings and written them up in a research report.
