How do FSS students adress sustainability in their final thesis?

The integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the curricula has led to a growing interest among FSS students in topics related to sustainable development. They are increasingly featuring in their final theses, which contributes to raising awareness of the importance of sustainable development, as well as to greater engagement with the economy and business, and thus to the implementation of the SDGs in practice.

In the 2019-2022 period, both bachelor's and master's theses cover all seventeen SDGs, while doctoral dissertations cover twelve SDGs. The most frequently covered SDGs are: SDG 9 (industry, innovation and infrastructure), SDG 16 (peace, justice and strong institutions), and SDG 8 (decent work and economic growth) in the final theses and dissertations.

The content of the final theses is thus largely focused on SDGs related to the economy and business, which gives FSS students an important competitive advantage in the labour market. Employers value the knowledge, skills and experience related to sustainable development that students acquire during their studies.
