  • Monika Kalin Golob was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia. From 1986 she studied Slovenian language and literature (as major) and comparative literature (as minor) at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. She succesfully defended her doctoral thesis on history of journalistic discourse and style in Slovenian dailies in 1998.

    Her research fields are Language Culture, Stylistics of Journalism, PR and Advertising, Language Planning and Language Policy.

    She was a post-doctoral fellow on the invitation by the Bavarian government in Munich, an invited professor on the Faculty of Arts, Department of Czech language, Karlova Universita, Prague, and invited professor on the Faculty of Arts, Zagreb, Croatia.

    JOB POSITIONS

    Since July 1, 1992 she works at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana.

    1992–1998: teaching assistant of the Slovenian Standard language and stylistics, she actively participated in the following classes: Slovenian Standard language I and II, and Stylistics of reporting. Since 1999: assistant professor of the Slovenian language and stylistics. Classes: Language culture, General stylistics, Stylistics of reporting, History of journalism, and Syntax of the Slovenian Standard language. Since 2004: associate professor of  the Slovenian Standard  language and stylistics. Since 2009: full professor.
