  • Andraž Petrovčič, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana (FSS, UL). In addition to teaching courses in the field of social science methodology, data analytics and internet-related phenomena, he is a research fellow at the Centre for Social Informatics - CSI (FSS, UL). In 2020 he was appointed Adjunct Professor of Social and Public Policy in the field of Internet Research and Gerontechnology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Jyväskylä. The main areas of his research work are (1) a multidimensional analysis of social support in personal networks as a factor of digital inclusion, (2) understanding the importance of indirect internet use for the development of digital skills in an ageing society, (3) the study of older adults' user experience with interfaces on mobile devices, and (4) analysing outcomes and determinants of acceptance of ICT-based services for independent living among older adults. As a research fellow at the CSI, he has participated in more than 20 national and international projects, addressing various aspects of development of information society in terms of the role of the internet and other ICT (services) in active healthy ageing, people's everyday life and digital (in)equality. Dr. Petrovčič is the co-editor of Interacting with Broadband Society (Peter Lang, 2010) and (co-)author of several chapters and articles published in top-tier journals, including New Media & Society, Computers and Human Behaviour, The Information Society, Telematics & Informatics, Telecommunications Policy, etc. He is an active member of the editorial board of the journal Human Technology, and served as a member of the programme committee of Human-Computer Interaction International (HCII) conference between 2016 and 2020. He has organised and (co-)chaired a number of thematic sections, conference panels and workshops at international conferences in the fields of survey methodology, social informatics, internet studies, and gerontechnology. He was awarded with the Solemn prize for young academics and university lecturers for exceptional pedagogical and research accomplishments of University of Ljubljana (2016) and received the Award of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana for outstanding achievements in the field of scientific research (2019).
