  • Andraž Petrovčič, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana (FSS UL), where he teaches courses on social science methodology and data analysis as well as on internet-related phenomena. Main fields of his research are (1) the analysis the role of ICTs in social support exchange and interpersonal communication in personal networks, (2) the study of user experience with age-friendly (graphical) interfaces on mobile devices, and (3) the analysis of outcomes and determinants of acceptance of ICT-based services for independent living among older adults. As a research fellow at the Centre for Social Informatics (FSS UL), he has participated in more than 15 national and international projects, addressing various aspects of development of information society in terms of the role of the internet and other ICT (services) in active and healthy ageing, people's everyday life and digital (in)equality. At present, he is the principal investigator of an applied research project "Understanding and analysis of users' needs for the development of e-services for integrated social and health care in the ageing society " (2018-2021), funded by the Slovenian Research Agency (ARRS) and Telekom Slovenije. Dr. Petrovčič (co)authored two monographs and several chapters and articles published in high-impact factor journals, including International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction, European Journal of Communication, Computers and Human Behavior, The Information Society, Telematics & Informatics, Telecommunications Policy, etc. He is a member of editorial board of Human Technology and serves on the program committee of Human-Computer Interaction International (HCII). He has organized and (co-)chaired a number of thematic sections, conference panels and workshops at international conferences in the field of survey methodology, social informatics, internet studies, and gerontechnology. He has received the University of Ljubljana solemn prize for young academics and university lectures for exceptional pedagogical and research accomplishments (2016) and an Award of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana for outstanding achievements in scientific research (2019).
