    • Marina Trkman, PhD, is a research associate at the Centre for Social Informatics and a lecturer at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of public administration, University of Ljubljana. Her previous positions include: Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana as a researcher, Jožef Stefan Institute as a postdoctoral researcher and Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics, University of Ljubljana as a young researcher.

      She received her PhD from the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics, University of Ljubljana. In her PhD thesis she optimised the understanding of user requirements by linking them to the activities of business process models. She gained experience in designing, organising and conducting experiments.

      As part of a postdoctoral project at the Jožef Stefan Institute, she led the project "Technological and business aspects of the future healthcare ecosystem" in collaboration with Better (a leading vendor of e-health services worldwide). We organised data collection through two months of observations of patients on a ward at a hospital in Plymouth, England, and a review of the hospital's IT system files. The aim of the observations was to understand the performance of the patient discharge process and the opportunities for improving it with a new electronic prescribing application offered by Better.

      She was then invited to join the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana, where she took on an important research role on the project "Business analytics and business models in supply chains".

      Her work on the adoption of eHealth applications contributed to the identification of factors that have a significant impact on the intended use of a contact tracing application. These factors are: benefits to the individual, benefits to society and perceived severity of the crisis.

      She has received several awards for her research work, including prizes from companies and public and academic organisations, such as the Ad Futurina Award for Sustainable Development, the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics Award for promising PhD students, the Trimo Award, and the ARRS Award for completing her PhD thesis 6 months ahead of schedule.
