The Centre for Cultural and Religious Studies (CCRS) is an interdisciplinary research unit with a special focus on culture and religion. Its associates specialize in contemporary cultural and religious phenomena in the local and global environment.
More specifically, CCRS researchers are interested in popular culture (film, music, fashion, media), cultures of everyday life, subcultures and street cultures, modern literature, changes in mentality and religion in post-socialist environments, (de)secularization processes in contemporary societies, new religious movements, Balkan studies, collective memory and various forms of nostalgia. CCRS researchers closely cooperate with renowned domestic and foreign, European and American education and research institutions through projects, exchanges, and other national, regional, and international mechanisms.
