Opportunities and Threats in Contemporary International Business: Messages from Experienced International Business Practitioners
On Thursday, 7 October, the Centre of International Relations (CIR) at the Faculty of Social Sciences (University of Ljubljana, Slovenia) organised the ‘Opportunities and Threats in Contemporary International Business’ panel as a warm-up event for the 'Six Decades of the Past, Six Decades for the Future' conference that is celebrating 60 years of teaching and researching International Relations in Slovenia.
Žiga Drev from Origin Trail, Tamara Juričič Bellomo from Incom Leone and Dušan Olaj from Duol shared their rich experience in risk management as well as with turning international business challenges into opportunities with more than 100 participants who attended the event in person or online.
The speakers stressed the importance of (1) strong and reliable partnerships for stability of business, (2) development and innovations for creation of value added and international expansion, (3) nurturing openness to change among employees for greater organisational flexibility to environmental changes and continuous progress, and (4) cooperation between support institutions and business entities for economic development.
The debate was moderated by prof. dr. Andreja Jaklič, vice-dean for scientific research at the Faculty of Social Sciences and a CIR member, who also presented innovative teaching methods in and for international business, such as those developed in the Erasmus+ VCL4IB project in the form of a digital library of video cases on international business called »MNC Whispering«.
