On 20 September 2018, Prof. Zlatko Šabič, Director-General of the EARL, spoke at the conference on »Constructing post-Imperium identity: Taiwan and Eastern Europe". The conference was organised by the Institute of East Asian Studies of the University of California at Berkeley. Professor Šabič participated with a talk on the development of Slovenia after the end of the Cold War and the breakup of Yugoslavia.
