Korean Studies Days 2019
On February 28th and March 14th 2019, the EARL hosted Days of Korean Studies at Faculty of Social Sciences, organized by Centre for Korean Studies, Department of Asian Studies, Faculty of Arts. First day students and visitors listened to two interesting lectures: first was held by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chikako Shigemori Bučar on Korean and Korea-related picture -postcards currently archived in the Republic of Slovenia. Next was a lecture by PhD. Codruta Sintionean (Head of Department of Korean Studies, Universitatea Babeş-Bolyai, Romania) on the topic of Overcoming Patriarchy in South Korean Society, which resulted in a lively debate among students.
Second day was dedicated to Traditional and Modern Philosophy (Confucianism) in Korea. Lecture on influence of Confucianism on modern South Korea was held by visiting Korean Philosopher Chungwoo CHOI, and on traditional Confucianism spoke PhD. Jana Rošker (Research Adviser & Professor, University of Ljubljana).
