At the lecture - Samurai, Confucianists, gentlemen

As part of the EARL special series of lectures celebrating the centenary of the University of Ljubljana, on 4th December 2019 Dr Luka Culiberg presented a lecture titled »Samurai, Confucianists, gentlemen: How Japan became modern while inventing its tradition«.

The lecture talked about the transformation of Japanese society in the second half of the 19th century and reformulations of the past that took place within this process.
