Invitation to debate with Members of European Parliament 28/11

On the 28th of November, and in cooperation with the European Parliament Office in Ljubljana, the Embassy of the Netherlands is inviting several Members of the European Parliament to Ljubljana for a panel discussion dealing with the state of the Rule of Law within the EU.

The panel discussion titled “the Future of Europe: the Rule of Law”, will be opened by the President of the National Assembly, Dr. Brglez, and moderated by Mrs van der Laan, Vice-President of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe.

We believe this debate would provide a choicely opportunity for students of European Studies, Political Science and International Relations, students of the Department of Journalism as well as other students from your Faculty, to join the Members of the European Parliament in a debate about the current and future state of the Rule of Law within the EU. It may be an opportunity to perhaps include the debate in the curriculum of some of the courses.

Therefore, we would like to invite both you and your students to join us at the panel discussion at the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana on Friday November 28 at 10.00 hrs. Entrance is free of charge. However, please register at lju-ea@minbuza.nl.

The European Parliament Members that will be participating at the debate are, with reservation: Dr. Igor Šoltes (Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance - Lista dr. Igorja Šoltesa), Romana Tomc (Group of the European People's Party – SDS), Alojz Peterle (Group of the European People's Party - Nova Slovenija), Jeroen Lenaers (Group of the European People's Party – Christen Democratisch Appèl) and Judith Sargentini (Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance – GroenLinks).

Before the start of the panel discussion, there will be a small introduction about the Rule of Law and the European Institutions currently safeguarding it, so that the terminology will be understandable for all present.
