PhD Student and Post-doc Openings at University of Mannheim


The University of Mannheim is looking for a PhD student and a Post-doc with a background in web and mobile web surveys and/or data science.

They announced temporary PhD position for a teaching/research assistant (E 13, 0.5)  at the Professorship for Statistics and Methodology (Professor Dr. Frauke Kreuter, Assistant Professor Dr. Florian Keusch). The preferred starting date is August 1, 2016.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
*Support in teaching courses and assisting undergraduate students
*Assisting in research conducted at the professorship
 
Qualifications:
*Graduate degree in sociology, statistics, or related social sciences
*Profound knowledge in quantitative social science research methods, incl. proficiency in using a statistical software package (e.g., R, Stata, SAS, SPSS)
*Fluent in written and spoken English (speaking German is a bonus but not a necessity)
*Interest and first experience in web and/or mobile web survey data collection
*Interest in authoring scientific publications and presenting at international conferences
*High flexibility, motivation, commitment, and the ability to work independently and as part of a research team
