📍 Location: Online (Zoom link: https://uni-lj-si.zoom.us/j/95651338234)

This panel marks the first public event of the Beyond the Rainbow project, which explores how young people — particularly from LGBT+ communities — navigate questions of intimacy, identity, gender, and sexuality. Through storytelling, radio, and podcasting, the project fosters creative expression and transnational dialogue, amplifying voices often unheard.
Panelists:
Prof. Dr. Roman Kuhar (University of Ljubljana, Slovenia)
A leading sociologist and scholar of gender, sexuality, and human rights, Roman has published extensively on LGBT+ rights, media representation, and the politics of intimacy in Central and Eastern Europe. He brings a deeply informed academic lens to contemporary queer experiences and policy.
Jelena Filipović (Serbia)
A passionate student and activist, Jelena will share her personal story of growing up queer in Serbia — reflecting on the challenges of visibility, the gaps in institutional support, and the power of solidarity within activist communities.
Alex Pommatau (France)
A queer educator and radio producer based in Marseille, Alex works on relationship and sex education with youth and professionals. Their focus is on inclusive pedagogy and the power of queer audio storytelling as a tool for empowerment and cultural transformation.
Mia Poland (Ireland)
Mia Poland is a journalist and broadcaster with a long-standing commitment to Ireland’s LGBTQ community. They host the radio show Pride Vibes and have written for publications including the Evening Echo and Gay Community News. Mia’s work not only informs and inspires but also creates vital platforms for visibility and inclusion. As a lifelong member and advocate of the LGBTQ community, Mia brings both lived experience and journalistic integrity to every conversation.
