As a part of the Nakba anniversary events Free Palestine, the Department of Cultural Studies cordially invites you to the conversation with the bookstore owner, publicist, and publisher Mahmud Muna, which will be moderated by Dr. Aleš Črnič and Katja Zakrajšek. On Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Faculty of Social Sciences (lecture hall 20), we will be discussing the Holy Land at the intersection of religions, geopolitical pressures, and anti-colonial resistance.
𝗠𝗮𝗵𝗺𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗮 is a bookseller and publisher, known to many as the bookseller from Jerusalem. He runs the famous Jerusalem bookstore 𝘌𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘉𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘱 and the bookstore in the hotel 𝘈𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘺, which are the centres of Jerusalem's literary scene. Muna graduated in media and communications from the University of Sussex and King’s College in London. He is active in numerous cultural initiatives throughout Palestine and regularly writes about culture and politics, among others, for the London Review of Books and Jerusalem Quarterly. He recently published the first Arabic edition of the literary magazine Granta, and with Matthew Teller, he edited the book 𝘋𝘢𝘺𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬 𝘪𝘯 𝘎𝘢𝘻𝘢, 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴.
